The Ursener Höhenweg — a panorama classic from Tiefenbach

The Ursener Höhenweg is one of Central Switzerland's most beautiful panorama hikes. It leads from Hotel Tiefenbach high above the Urseren Valley to Andermatt, with views you will remember for a long time.

The route

The tour starts directly in front of the hotel and first climbs gently towards the east. After only a few minutes the panorama opens across the Urseren Valley, the Gemsstock and the mountain chain towards Oberalp Pass.

Along the way you pass the picturesque Blauseeli and Lutersee, both ideal places for a scenic break. In high summer, alpine roses, gentian and blueberry shrubs line the trail.

To me, among all the regions I know, it is the dearest and most interesting.

Practical tips

💡

Tip: Start early in the morning after a relaxed breakfast at the hotel. The trail faces east and is especially beautiful in the morning sun.

Recommended equipment

  • Good hiking boots, ankle-high recommended
  • Sun protection and sunglasses
  • At least 1.5 litres of water
  • Rain jacket, as weather can change quickly
  • Camera, because the views are worth it
🚂

Return journey

From Andermatt, the Matterhorn Gotthard Railway runs regularly to Realp in about 10 minutes. From Realp, return to the hotel on foot or by PostBus in summer.
