Winter arrival at Tiefenbach — what you need to know
Arriving at Hotel Tiefenbach in winter is an experience of its own and requires some planning. The Furka Pass road is closed from November to May, and the hotel can only be reached under your own power.

Getting to Realp
Realp is easily reached by the Matterhorn Gotthard Railway from Andermatt in about 10 minutes, or from Valais. Drivers park in Realp, where parking is managed by the Nager family and the Furka Steam Railway.
Parking
CHF 8 per day and car. Tiefenbach guests park at the golf course, in the rear section. Payment is possible via TWINT, PayPal, EasyPark or cash.
The ascent
The route follows the snow-covered Furka Pass road. Bend by bend you gain height, with ever wider views across the Urseren Valley and the surrounding mountains. With good fitness it can take 1.5 hours, in deep fresh snow closer to 2.5 hours.
Important: If arriving on touring skis: avalanche transceiver, probe and shovel are mandatory. Always check the avalanche situation at slf.ch.

- Headlamp, essential in darkness
